P&O Cruises names Robert Camby as the Captain of their new ship Arvia

P&O Cruises announced today that Captain Robert Camby will be the Captain of their newest ship, the Arvia. The Arvia, which is still being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, will enter service in December of 2022. It will first sail it’s inaugural winter cruises out of Southampton before repositioning to Barbados.

Captain Robert Camby got his start in 1995, when he was selected into the P&O Princess Cruises Cadet program. Since then, he earned his masters ticket in December of 2003, was appointed the navigator on the Queen Mary 2 and earned the rank of deputy captain in June of ’08. In December of 2011, he was promoted to captain and had his first command of the P&O Oriana in January of 2012. Since taking his first command, he has also commanded various other vessels, including the Azura, Arcadia, Aurora, Oceana, Ventura, Britannia, the Queen Victoria, the Queen Mary 2 and the Iona.
