According to multiple news reports, a rockslide occurred on June 23rd, just minutes after longshoremen had finished securing the Discovery Princess to the dock. Thankfully, passengers hadn’t started disembarking yet. The dock is still usable, as most of the damage was to the east side of dock and the ships that dock there are tied up on the west side.
As a result of the rockslide, the Discovery Princess was moved to the aft berth and passengers were tendered to the small boat harbor. The Quantum of the Seas was scheduled to stop in Skagway, but the decision was made to skip this stop due to the damage.
There are also unconfirmed, personal reports of movement on the ship during the rockslide and slight damage to windows due to being struck from debris.
Geotechnical engineers were scheduled to visit the site this morning to assess the damage.
