Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas receives its first fuel tank

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas just had it’s first LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) tank installed. It will eventually have 2. According Royal Caribbean International, the LNG tank weighs 307 tons and is 90 feet long. According to Royal Caribbean International, the LNG fuel tanks are the largest in the cruise industry.

The 5,600 passenger ship will be the first cruise ship in Royal Caribbean’s fleet to be powered by LNG. Currently, the Icon of the Seas is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland and is set to debut in the fall of 2023.
